We Have a Training Session For You!

After reviewing our variety of training programs, please complete the Gun Dog Training Form and send it to Countryside Kennels. This will allow us to better understand your needs.

Gun Dog Training FAQ's:
 

Q: What age do you prefer a dog to come in for training?
A: We don't get as concerned as the age of the dog as we do with the current abilities. Regardless of age, the more advanced he is when he arrives, the more advanced he will be when he departs.
 
Q: How to reserve a kennel?
A: We recommend mailing the preferred form along with a deposit of $200 will reserve a kennel for your desired time frame.
 
Q: What supplies should be brought?
A: We recommend bringing your own food as this is one less transition your dog will have to undergo. We supply all bedding and training equipment necessary. Also, a copy of all current vaccinations is required.
 
Q: What are Countryside Kennels' Business hours?
A: 8am - 5pm, 7 days a week

Countryside's Black as ColeTraining Program #1:

This course includes boarding and feed. There is a $50 bird fee which will allow us to shoot live game birds over your dog.

Included in this program is a free 4 bird hunt at the conclusion of this program.

 

 



Jim and AbbyTraining Program #2:

Our most popular and most successful program is our 3 month gun dog program. This program is for both upland and waterfowl dogs. During your dogs stay here, he/she will be forcefetched to retrieve, responding to whistle commands, and hand signals, flushing/pointing, working doubles, introduced to blinds, collar conditioned and obedient. You will have the rock solid gun dog you've always dreamed of. The cost of the program $1500, not including a $50/month bird fee.




Jim and CooperTraining Program #3:

Countryside Kennels "Train Your Own" program allows you to train your dog at our licensed training facility using farm raised gamebirds. The cost is $100 for 2 hours and 10 Quail. (We are a gundog training facility, not a shooting preserve. We harvest non-resident game birds only). We are a licensed year round training facility.

You can train your dog on our grounds during Michigan's nesting season "April 15 -July 15."

 


 

RockyTraining Program #4:

One on One Training Program includes you, me, 10 birds, and your dog. This 2 hour program is geared toward improving both the owner and the dogs skills afield. Please book early with a $50 deposit as these sessions are in great demand.

Doc, Rocky and AbbyCountryside Kennels is currently scheduling Gun Dog Handler Classes.

Come join the fun! We have had a number of Saturday classes which are intended to improve handler skills while "turning on young dogs". These classes cover everything from behavior issues, basic obedience, field work, intro to guns, water, crates, the whole 9 yards.

Classes start at 8:00 a.m. and end at noon. Continental breakfast and lunch included.  $200.00. Stay tuned for a list of upcoming sessions..

 

Typical agenda for the Gun Dog Handler class is:

  • 8:00 - 8:30: Introductions

  • 8:30 - 9:00: Obedience (Leashwork/Whoa/Sit/Heel)

  • 9:00 - 10:00: Intro to Birds and Shooting (Tether/Launcher/Fly Byes/Starter Pistol)

  • 10:00 - 10:15: Water Intro

  • 10:15 - 10:45: Table Work/E-collar Intro

  • 10:45 - Noon: Simulated Bird Hunt

  • Lunch and Brag!
