After reviewing our variety of training programs, please complete the Gun Dog Training Form and send it to Countryside Kennels. This will allow us to better understand your needs.

Training Program #1:

The staple of our program has been our 28-day gun dog introduction course. During this time your dog will be introduced to obedience, shooting, ranging/quartering, flushing/pointing, live birds and retrieving. For only $600, this course includes boarding, feed, and birds. Included in this program is a FREE four bird hunt at the conclusion of the program.

Training Program #2:

Our most popular and most successful program is our 3 month gun dog program. This program is for both upland and waterfowl dogs. During your dogs stay here, he/she will be forcefetched to retrieve, responding to whistle commands, and hand signals, flushing/pointing, working doubles, introduced to blinds, collar conditioned and obedient. You will have the rock solid gun dog you've always dreamed of. The cost of this program is $1,500.00 and includes all feed, boarding, and birds.

Training Program #3:

We also offer a 5-step training program at Countryside Kennels that has turned hundreds of young dogs into fine family hunting companions! Upon arrival, we will discuss your goals and expectations and the potential of your dog. Together, we'll put together a plan on how to best accomplish what is desired. At the completion of the course, we will have a session with your dog and we'll work together on handling tips. Suggestions will be offered that will make your hunting trips enjoyable for years to come.

Training Program #4:

Countryside Kennels "Train Your Own" program allows you to train your dog at our licensed training facility using farm raised gamebirds. The cost is $100 for 2 hours and 10 Quail. (We are a gundog training facility, not a shooting preserve. We harvest non-resident game birds only). We are a licensed year round training facility.

You can train your dog on our grounds during Michigan's nesting season "April 15 -July 15."

Countryside Kennels and James 'Lucky' Miller will be conducting a number of group training sessions over the next few months. These are designed to improve owner/handler skills while exposing your dog to birds, shooting, obedience, electronics, other dogs, and field situations. During this program we will give tips and suggestions that will improve your ability to get the full potential out of your hunting partner as well as address behavior issues that occasionally occur throughout the training procedure.

These sessions will be beneficial to both the experienced dogs and handlers as well as the novice. Each session will start at 8:00 am with introductions and will conclude at noon with lunch. The cost is $150.00 and that includes birds, food, and more. Please bring your own training gear..ie check cord/leash, collar, whistle, etc.......Reserve early to assure a spot. The following dates still have openings: 8/23, 9/13, 10/11.
